This winter has been crazy in Buffalo... honestly, in contradiction to our stereotype, we really haven't had much snow! I know its been a while since my last post... I moved into a new home and definitely got set back, but now I'm back up and running so be ready for a whole lot of posts to come!

On to Noelle & Jeff...

Ok, I'll admit it... I definitely have a funny thing with numbers. My favorite number is eight, my lucky number is eleven and whenever the clock reads 11:11, I make a wish. I know that there are lots more out there like me because November 11th of this year was one of the most popular days to get married! I was lucky enough to photograph Noelle and Jeff on their lucky day... if only the weather didn't follow suite with rain also being a lucky thing. It was a freezing cold and rainy day, but Noelle and Jeff were the best troopers! We were literally dodging rain drops running in and out of buildings and trying to regain some sense of feeling in our fingers whenever possible. These two are so madly in love it was just wonderful working with them and I honestly didn't mind the rain at all! Here are a few of my favorites from the day... enjoy!

My second photo shoot was of the extended Monin family. Laura, one of my closest friends throughout high school and college, recently had a baby boy named Ben. At the same time, her sister Amy also had a beautiful boy named Sam. These two little ones were adorable... only 2 weeks apart in age, and the cuteness in our one hour shoot was insane! A couple weekends ago, I had the pleasure of documenting Jill and Mike's wedding day. These two are seriously the nicest people you could ever meet. They day was amazing, and the weather was unreal... 80 degrees in October! I'm actually very close with Jill's parents so I have to admit that I was pretty emotional throughout the day... especially watching the father daughter dance.... ok I was actually a bawling mess! But, in my defense, who wouldn't be after listening to her dad sing daddy's little girl! Anyways, the day was incredible and this is really a little snip-it of it. Last week I had the opportunity to meet up with the Cosentino family and their little cutie Emma. A little over 6 months old, this little peanut was just adorable and she was a perfect little model throughout the shoot! We headed over to the dog park to try and get some of the beautiful fall leaves with their vivid colors, but just my luck, the trees were mostly green except for one! We had a great time exploring, munching on leaves, checking out doggies and we even pulled out the cute baby uggs for a bit! Here are a few of my favorites from the day, enjoy!

It's been a while since I have exhibited my artwork... like since grad school, but this summer I was asked by one of my former professors to exhibit my... wedding photography! I was both shocked and honored. My alma mater SUNY Fredonia dumped a ton of money into renovating our gallery space and the public will get its first look at the new space with an opening reception for the exhibition, “Then and Again,” from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. I'm pretty excited that I was one of the few selected and that I get to show off my wedding stuff for the first time ever in a gallery setting!

The best part about being a small business owner, is that I really get to know my clients personally. Even though I don't advertise, my business seems to keep growing just from word of mouth; so somehow, it seems like everyone is connected through degrees of separation. I love it, cause I always work with such amazing people! That is the case with Teresa & Mike, who are just awesome! These two met at my alma mater, SUNY Fredonia, and were referred to me by one of my old Resident Assistant / good friend that still works on campus. There is just something about Fredonia that bonds us all together and it seems like once you meet someone who went to school there, you are instantly friends with them! Anyways, these two have a unique situation in that Mike is leaving for Texas for two years while he begins working for customs AND, he leaves this Monday. Our weather hasn't been cooperating lately, but because we are so hard pressed for time, we needed to shoot rain or shine. Surprising, mother nature was helping us out and we didn't have a complete wash out! Here are some of my favorites from the day... Mike and Teresa, thank you so much for allowing me to take part in your last days together here in Buffalo before your next adventure! I wish you both all the best!

My second shoot at Delaware Park was of Melissa & Jon. After 2 minutes of meeting these two, I felt as though I had known them for years. Melissa & Jon are two of the sweetest people I have ever met. I just love our city... the people, the architecture, the food, the four seasons, this list could really go on. Autumn in Buffalo is just beautiful. In fact, October has really become like the new "July" in terms of brides looking to get married. For the third year in a row, this month has been my busiest yet. However, October is a little... unpredictable with the weather. Although we were just enjoying the the high 70's low 80's all this past week, two weeks ago was the polar opposite, with highs in the low 40's and temps feeling more like the the 30's! On this chilly day, Jen and Jeremy and their entire wedding party were troopers and braved the elements with me in the heart of downtown Buffalo. With the beautiful architecture as our backdrop, we wandered throughout downtown until we literally could not feel our fingers and toes. Jen and Jeremy, you rocked it... thanks for being so great out there! Enjoy!

So, before the weather changed from summer (80 degree) to winter (40 degrees) overnight, I went out to Beaver Island State Park to meet up with the Pepe, O'Connor - Eberhard families! I just love this group! I have been following these kidos since they were only days old and now we were all running around the beach having a great time. Last weekend, I headed over to Glen Falls park to meet up with the Rusnock family. It was another perfect day here in Buffalo so we took advantage and started early in the morning. Last weekend, I photographed Mary & Michael's wedding. So last night, after 4 prior attempts, I finally met up with Carley and Brandon. We've had some beautiful weather here in buffalo, but I swear that these two are rain gods. As I was chatting with them, I learned that Brandon is quite the romantic, and his proposal involving post-it notes describing why he wanted to marry Carley was the most awesome engagement story ever! Over the weekend I had the chance to photograph Kara and Rich's wedding! You may recognize them from our e-shoot we did last fall. Quiet honestly, you couldn't imagine two more beautiful people both inside and out. Both of their families are incredible too.... this was a wedding where I was tearing up like a baby a few times! Kara and Rich are the rare high school sweethearts that lasted over a long distance relationship, college and everything in between and still are so madly in love with each other. In fact, Rich even surprised Kara with a song that he wrote for her about two people becoming one, just amazing! Now that the newly weds are back from their honeymoon I can finally blog their post! You may remember seeing these two from their engagement shoot we did last summer. Last weekend, I had the opportunity to reunite with one of my high school friend's that I haven't seen since high school. It was really great to catch up, meet her husband and get an update on other people we haven't seen in so long. I love dogs. I really do, especially my little Bailey who just turned two on May 1st. Since my husband and I don't have children yet, Bailey has pretty much adapted to the role of our little girl. So here is my second shoot from Saturday! It's not too often that I get the chance to see my close friend Dana, so when the opportunity comes, we jump on it especially when her little one, Liam, is included in the package! After a long winter, and a slow start to spring, Buffalo is finally warm again! It feels good to be out in this weather and back to shooting. Yesterday I had back to back photo shoots with two of my favorite families to work with. We'll start with the Pepe family. Luke is officially one now! Time flies by incredibly fast, and it seems like each year gets faster. I notice this even more when I photograph a family that I have been documenting throughout the year. This past weekend Brandon, Mallory and I all ventured up to Old Fort Niagara to do some e-pics! The best part about this shoot was that we all kind of felt like explorers too. Brandon had never been to the fort so it was great to wander throughout all of the buildings. Did I mention that it was freezing too? Poor Mallory couldn't feel her toes but she was such a great sport about it! So here it is.... the first wedding and blog post of 2011!!!

As Buffalonians, we are pretty much used to cold weather from November to March and we are pretty hardy people in the cold. You'll often see someone in their shorts once it hits 45 degrees after a long winter spell. However, two weeks ago was insane! You guessed it... the weekend of Lena and Adam's beautiful wedding was also deemed the coldest weekend of the winter here in Buffalo. It reached a high of 9 degrees and continuously dropped from there. Lena and Adam and their entire wedding party were troopers and should be awarded some kind of medal for the photos we did outside in this cold! Even though no one could feel their toes after 10 minutes, we had a blast. Here are a few favorites from their day... enjoy!

Going through all of these photos brings back so many memories, from crazy weather, wild wedding parties, emotional family moments, and some hysterical wedding speeches.... Last week, on a cold November day here in Buffalo, I met up with Kara and Rich. These two were so great to work with! It was freezing... and while I was bundled up in my winter coat and gloves, these two were willing to jump off park benches, climb trees and light posts, and go all around the city for this shoot! I especially love that the two of them were so into the beautiful architecture all around Buffalo! In all honesty, the best way to really appreciate it, is to go out with your camera and look at all the details... we seriously live in a beautiful city! I love when I have the opportunity to photograph a family enough times to watch the children grow. It's so incredible how fast little ones can change in no time at all! I have been photographing the Pepe family (and extended family) over the past year and I feel closer and closer to the family every time! Last weekend, I got to see little Luke, Anthony and Lilly all together again! We went to Glen Park and just let the kids have fun with each other while I was there to capture it. Their day was absolutely beautiful... in all honesty, you really couldn't ask for a better fall day here in Buffalo. These two looked amazing and all of their details were timeless and classic! We had very little time between the ceremony and reception for photos, and we were pretty much running all over the place, (including 3 stories of a castle) but these two were totally cool with it! A couple weeks go, I met up with Sarah and Paul again to photograph their wedding day. You might recall seeing these two from their engagement session we did over the summer. There were so many sentimental details throughout their day, from her chalk board countdown til wedding day, the necklace she wore from her grandmother, the rosary wrapped in her bouquet, and the table numbers that displayed year's of their lives, it had elements of both of them throughout it all. I would have to say that I have been pretty lucky this year to have worked with some pretty incredible people, and Leah and Donnie were just amazing! You might actually recognize these two from their engagement shoot we did back in July. Leah & Donnie are probably one of the best looking and nicest couples I have ever met. The best part about these two... they love to have fun! The wedding party was just as great... willing to try all sorts of things and even threw out some great ideas for photos to try out! We had a perfect day and wandered around Clarence Town Park for a few photos before heading over to Diamond Hawk Country Club for the reception. And now for something totally different! Last week, I was granted an incredible opportunity to travel down to New Orleans to document a community rebuild project funded by Waste Management, in an area called Assumption Parish. This area was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, Gustav and Ike and has received very little funding to rebuild. With the help of the community and Waste Management, we were able to give Assumption Parish it's first community park in over 50 years. I have to say that this experience was truly eye-opening. The people down there were so wonderful and deserving of this park. It was a project that joined people across many different backgrounds to come together to do something wonderful. I hope you enjoy my first blog video! Please excuse the poor quality from the blog!

Now that I'm finally back from all my travels, I can focus on my blog again! It's been a while, but two weeks ago, I worked with an awesome couple: Allie & Duane. These two are so full of love for each other and were just beaming the entire day! Their ceremony was in one of Buffalo's most beautiful churches... Trinity Episcopal Church where we were surrounded by Tiffany stained glass windows and I saw a candle light prayer for the couple by the entire congregation! We then headed over to the Japanese Gardens for a quick shoot before going to the reception. It was a perfect day and these were a few of my favorites from it... enjoy!

Surprisingly, these two had never been to the Glen before, so I got to be not only their photographer, but their personal tour guide as well. I'm at a point in my life where all of my friends are now starting their own families. This of course means that there will be lots of baby shoots coming to this blog soon! My very good friend Mel and her wonderful husband Dave, just gave birth to their first child, Leah. She is just beautiful. At only 6 days old she had her first professional photo shoot and did wonderful. I can't wait to see how she changes for the next time I see her! Here are a few of my favorites from the day... welcome to the world baby Leah!

alaska by sea (part 2)

Planes, trains, automobiles, boats, helicopters, kayaks, sea planes... we pretty much saw Alaska on every mode of transportation possible. Our sea portion was wonderful. My husband is a hydrogeologist, and me being the photographer, made this a perfect trip for us. We went into an area called Glacier Bay National Park where we were able to see five different glaciers all in the same bay... just beautiful. The ice is this deep aqua color and going into the bay we were surrounded by humpback whales, orcas, seals, puffins, dolphins, and bald eagles. Here were a few of my favorites from this portion of the trip... enjoy!

alaska by land (part 1)

Words and photos cannot even begin to describe the beauty of Alaska. My husband and I fell in love with this state, and if it were not for the -40 degree winters that they have, I would seriously pack my bags and move there today. We were fortunate enough to spend 15 days in Alaska, one week by land and one week by sea. I took over 3,000 photos so narrowing this down to a few for my blog was nearly impossible... so there are two blogs of it... one by land, and one by sea. Most of these photos were taken in Denali National Park... believe it or not, these photos only show the first 17 miles of the park! It's official! I'm heading off to Alaska for a while to celebrate my wedding anniversary and to focus on my fine art photography too! July 24th is now officially "a day to remember". To say that we had rain that day would be an understatement... It was insane, in fact four tornadoes touched down around the area and it all happened during Steph and Jason's wedding. It was a whirlwind of a day but we all got through it and made it to the party! Eventually the storm settled leaving a breathtaking sunset. Here were a few of my favorites from the day... enjoy!

This past Sunday I had the opportunity to photograph three kiddos who happen to be cousins. I photographed both of these families in the past but we decided to do a joint family photo shoot in Delaware park and the weather was just perfect. Try to remember the house you grew up in. At one point in time you probably could have walked through that house with your eyes closed and known exactly where you were by the textures of the ground, the creaks of the floor, or even the way the shadows hid your eyelids. But then one day you grow up, move out, and maybe your parents eventually leave that house you knew so well. A few days ago, I was asked by the Panek family girls to document their house they grew up in now that their parents are about to move out. It was such a unique request, and I was so honored to have an inside look at their life, hobbies and memories. Here are a few favorites from the shoot... enjoy!

After a hectic week of photo shoots its now time to blog! Yesterday was awesome! I photographed Mandie and Jeff's beautiful ceremony, went to a castle, went to Anderson's for some ice cream, and then, to top it all off, went to one of my favorite places in b-lo... the dog park! All of this between the ceremony and reception, while battling stormy weather and extremely high winds... these guys rock! You might recognize Mandie and Jeff from their engagement shoot I did of them way back in October. These two are seriously wonderful to work with. I've really lucked out this year in working with couples that I could see myself being "real life" friends with, and these two are no exception. They truly are the most friendly and easy going people you could ever meet. Here are a few of my favorites from the day... enjoy!!
